Where do you get book recommendations?

Iโm thinking of reading a book on rationalism and critical thinking. Where do you usually go first for recommendations?
Quokk.au
My top options are:
Iโm a casual and just browse on Goodreads
Friends, family, other fans of the last book I liked
If itโs something specific like what you mentioned, just search for relevant articles with lists of recommendations. For more general themes you can go to goodreads (or similar), find some reviews you agree with on other books you liked and see what else the reviewers liked. Or do the same with people you know if you have similar tastes. You would think LLMs would be good at recommending books but every time Iโve tried with chatgpt the results were pretty bad but YMMV.
Try reading the first few pages of each book.
What one person finds fascinating bores another to tears.
Probably take much less time than doing any other kind of search.

zlibrary had some good recommendations, also some user made lists there
Anyone can make lists there. Iโve made a few myself.
Google or Goodreads reviews
