Holy shit that’s a horrible font.

It’s the font the person thinking that deserves

this font is hard to read :o

wth is a choice feminist?

As long as you can make a choice it is liberation. “Freedom is the capacity to make choices, oppression the inability to make choices”.

It’s basically diluting the politics from feminism and emphasizing choice over structural change. It sidesteps the fact that a liberty to make personal choices is in a privilege and needs structural change. That “choosing” to be a housewife is not a possible option for most people for example. As well that people who aren’t white nor/or cis nor/or straight do often miss access to the same infrastructure in order to get to the same place as their cis/straight/white counterparts.

I don’t know if I worded this well, but I tried my best.

I actually agree that one’s quality of freedom can be equated to the array of choice available to them. But it logically follows, quite obviously IMO, that in order to increase freedom for others you must help open up access to choices for them. If they don’t do that… Then what do they do?

What does this mean? Do I need to ask a premium subscription woman to find out?

I am so confused, you dislike all feminists?

They dislike RadFems like SWERFs (Sex Worker Radical Feminist) and TERFs (Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist).

Ok, but the best feminists are radical feminist that are sex work and trans inclusive. I don’t like people lumping terfs with radical feminist. Terfs are neither radical nor feminist

From a lot of the reading Ive done tonight to educate myself more about it, it seems like RadFem is a co-opted term similar to say how Libertarian was taken by right wingers.

Stuff like Anarcha-Feminism or even Marxist-Feminism would be the better ideologies.

It’s such bullshit… RadFem should clearly only refer to feminists that can at least pull off a kickflip.

agreed, unfortunately who can’t even skate co-opted it

Agree.

I hate poser radfems. If you don’t have them skills then you can’t claim to be a real rad fem.

The libertarian example is a great analogy.

While radfem is literally a portmanteau of radical feminist, it’s a colonized term that refers specifically to certain second wave tendencies that are notorious today for being exclusionary.

too bad they have basically taken over and co-opted the term RadFem along with misandrists, you technically could still use it, but you’d get a few side eyes cus that is what most think of RadFems as…

It’s bait

terfs, swerfs and misandrists have basically taken over the term “RadFem”, if you are any of those, gtfo off my posts

I don’t know. Seems like this is just a way to lump people who are not feminist in with feminists. I would reject this term as propaganda.

I only got to the word libfems, got stuck thinking about what kind of library libfems could be.

Comments from other communities

Isn’t a radical feminist just a feminist that wants to solve the problem at its root (radix), p.e. patriarchy? As opposed to “fixing” individual problems in order to retain the overall system?

unfortunately if enough problematic people use that term to describe themselves we have to pivot to a new term despite the fact that the literal meaning of the old term fits us quite well.

I like queer anarcho-feminist myself, it seems to get the point across

yeahh, that’s unfortunately true, I personally prefer Anarcha-Feminism too tbh

thanks for the explanation, I wasn’t aware or that!

I personally don’t identify strongly with anarchy (mostly due to lack of knowledge), and I’m not queer, so I guess I’ll keep being a radical feminist with the addendum that it’s not the exclusionary kind 🙃

mostly due to lack of knowledge

there’s not that much to know, honestly 😅

Obviously there’s always theory you could read if you want to, but the core idea is actually pretty simple:

All people are fundamentally equal. The systems that create inequality - especially hierarchies like class, race, gender roles, colonialism, imperialism, etc - they all deserve to be abolished and be replaced by egalitarian modes of living. These systems were created using violence and are maintained using violence, and so we can’t make a few superficial tweaks and call them good. We need new systems that were created to be equal from the outset.

To this end we create ways to support one another that don’t rely on the existing hierarchical systems, speak out against inequality, support and defend those most affected by the violence inherent in the system, seek harm reduction and reform where we can, and work to abolish these unjust systems so true equality can be created.

I know that sounds like a lot, but really we’re just people who believe in equality and want to fight for a truly just world any way we can. The reason it seems like it takes a lot of things is because inequality and injustice is everywhere - but to be an anarchist all you have to do is fight the inequality right in front of you. Just do what you can with what you know and where you are.

Oh, and it helps to do a little reading. Theory is nice, but honestly history is better. Learn how the place you live was actually founded, and who was murdered to build the system you (in all likelihood) currently benefit from. It’ll change you.

it’s NERF or nothing (tm)

Fucking hell, the Non-Exclusionary Radical Femists 🥳

Thank you ❤️

Are you familiar with an author named Shane Claiborne?

Terrible font choice…

I’m ignorant on what a radfem is, can you please explain more? A quick skim of the opening paragraphs on Wiki doesn’t sound too bad, but I don’t think you’d be making this meme if it was that simple. Are they like TERFs?

it’s like the umbrella term SWERFs and TERFs fall under. majority of them actively blame/hate sex-workers and/or trans women (even TIRFs who are supposedly pro-trans have been known to misgender or attack trans women if they have been pro-sex workers or go against their beliefs) they also hold misandrist views a lot of the time (not that big of an issue but still sucks)

Thanks for that, fuck RadFems!

Wait, TERF isn’t a word it’s an acronym that stands for TE Radical Feminist… Nevermind, I think I get it now.
