Had a guy pulling out of a parking lot while I was walking on the sidewalk, with him waiting on the sidewalk to pull into traffic. He actually bothered to back up a bit so I didn’t have to walk in front or behind him. It wasn’t necessary but a cool gesture. We could all do a little more of that in the world.

I had the same experience earlier this week, except they didn’t back up and instead started driving, forcing me to jump back to avoid being run over

This is why I would have crossed behind but, did he make eye contact with you? A Pillars are so fucking thick nowadays cars have blindspots forward of the driver. And frankly some people should have never passed their driving tests and we would have public transit to get them where they need to be.

I hate that. Just let me cross without waving your finger at me to cross. I don’t burn fuel, I don’t hold up traffic, you the driver do.

Same once I passed my driver licence and learned pedestrian had total priority on crossroad strip I realized you don’t have to thanks people for following the rule the same way driver don’t thanks me when I wait a the red pedestrian light

I like to give a thumbs up to drivers who stop for me. Not because they’re doing some huge favor, I just like to be encouraging.

Note that this principle does not extend to other drivers. Do not be nice while driving. Behave predictably, and follow the rules of the road.

Being nice can confuse drivers and cause accidents.

On the other hand, if you are driving and see another driver stop assume there’s a good reason for it and should at least slow down enough to stop at a moment’s notice.

Your advice is a good argument to forbid people from driving.

You should always be prepared to stop.

With that said, yes. It’s a dangerous activity that is unfortunately required where I live.

Driving a car is a sin, and the gods will punish all of us for your hubris. They’ll send droughts, famines, floods, fires, and hurricanes to smite us all because you drove a car.
