Unless something happens to her as a result, she probably will get away with it. It’s not like Albertans have the balls to get rid of her, force a leadership change, or take any socially positive action related to their political leadership. Do they?

The 2022 AB general election was 52.63% UCP, 44.05% NDP. The only reason they have a majority is the dumpster fire that is first past the post.

AB’s about on par with ON, and it’s 5% off from the difference between BC’s two parties in their last election.

And in fact there are people taking steps to force a leadership change. I dont know why you don’t know about it. Maybe you don’t speak with anyone actually in Alberta, and just go off what you read in our right-owned media?

It’s probably not an issue of balls, but that her supporters just don’t pay attention. The same happened in Ontario. When reporters interviewed Ford supporters during the election, they just said “he seems to have done well enough” despite all the lawsuits and fraud and other serious issues that his opposition kept yelling about.

I’m not Albertan but I believe the tradition is to vote for whomever gets the furthest out of the way of unfettered oil exports. I don’t think there’s much Smith couldn’t do as long as she keeps to that promise.

This…this is what sane-washing looks like, right? “Oh, she’s just throwing spaghetti at the wall.” A) Why does all the spaghetti involve modelling Canadian weakness and pandering to private/foreign interests? B) That’s not spaghetti.
