“Larger brain volumes tend to increase the risk of Parkinson’s disease later in life and smaller brain volumes tend to increase the risk of ADHD.”
Have trouble thinking your whole life or have trouble thinking when old?
I have adhd and I’d much rather have ADHD than Parkinsons. Trouble thinking doesn’t cover it. It’s a movement disorder that causes pain and 24/7 restlessness along with dementia. No thank you.
Makes sense, actually; dopamine is highly implicated in both disorders. ADHD responds to stimulants because they increase dopamine. Unfortunately they can also cause psychosis in large enough doses (common problem with meth and cocaine use). Antipsychotics, which reverse the psychosis… cause pseudoparkinsonianism, or drug-induced Parkinsons. Not sure exactly how this part of the puzzle fits in, but I’ve definitely seen some other puzzle pieces from that corner, to extend the metaphor.
