I’m beginning to think about Karl Urban how I think of Gary Oldman. He acts so well he blends in. You see the character over the actor.

I looked him up on IMDB because of this comment, and I had no idea Batman’s Gordon and Sirius Black from Harry Potter was the same actor.

These two roles for Gary Oldman are the ones that got me too. I was talking to a random person about Oldman as Gordon. And they said oh yea I really liked him in Harry Potter. I froze up for a second thinking through all the characters. Not finding him quickly so I assume he was a much more minor role. Some shop keeper or something. And then had to ask.

“He was Sirius black!” I felt dumbstruck, my whole face went loose as I realized. And I said holy crap! “From Gordon to Sirius to John Baptiste Emmanuel Zorg. That dude has some range”

The person I was talking to froze up and went loose faced the same as me. They didn’t know he was Zorg.

The dude becomes. He doesn’t act.

He really does seem to be the next generation (heh) of that type of actor. So many times I end up watching something and saying “Holy shit is that Karl Urban?” after ages of just vibing.

Karl Urban is the best of the Kelvin-verse cast. He felt like De Kelley/McCoy without doing an imitation or parody. Even in little things like facial expressions and line delivery, he nailed it.

Completely agree. I love Zachary Quinto as Spock but Karl definitely stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Fuck it I’m going to rewatch the movies later. I’m having a pretty horrific week and could use a distraction before doing something stupid.

Zachary Quinto’s Spock has the big issue of being written by someone that never watched a single episode of Star Trek. Somehow he manages to come up more off than Spock in

        spoiler

SNW Those Old Scientists and they were lampshading how unspock like he was acting.

Okay. I still love him as Spock though. It’s an alternate universe with a different take. I never said that he was exactly the same, just that I love him.

It would be illogical to love a fictional character who cannot reciprocate.

Dredd too. That fucking scowl of his made it.

OPs screenshot makes me wonder where in his life he picked up this hold though. I don’t see any medical roles he’s played before. Thinking maybe he spent a good amount of time around stunt actors and their medical personnel. Seems like something that might be useful in that line of work to see if someone is actually standing on their own or not.

I could be wrong. He could’ve been specifically taught that, but seems like such an trivial thing to be taught for a single role though.

Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if he just found that himself while researching. He’s been known to really throw himself into content to read up about roles. When he’s passionate about something, and he usually is, he gives it his all. Dredd is a good example, Almost Human being another. I could easily see Karl pouring over a bunch of random medical stuff. Or even just seeing that he has to stop Kirk in the script and conferring with the on-site medics.

I may be in love with him.

He strikes me as the type of guy who actually listens and asks questions of the on staff subject matter experts they tend to hire on sets.

Fuckin’ right? Just gives more to the fact that Karl Urban is a BEAST of an actor. If that’s actually the stance that’s used then there’s no way he didn’t do a significant amount of research for Bones. I love that man.

I found it on Pinterest a few months ago and had no one and no where to share it with. Not like I have a folder on my phone of 1000+ Star Trek Memes/Interesting Facts. No Sir. Not like I haven’t run a duplicate search on it multiple times to make sure they’re all unique. Nope. Not at all.
