Which is kinda fucked up because the Halo book is SO fucking good. I dunno if there was ever more written but the first one that told MC’s back story was riveting.
So many stories they could’ve gone with that didn’t even involve Master Chief as well. And if they wanted to do their own thing they could’ve just picked a different time and place and used original characters telling whatever story. Fans would’ve been bummed to not see MC, but it would’ve avoided having to tip-toe around established canon.
But nope, they said screw canon, just make shit up instead.
