A couple of the people I served with in the Army moved abroad after years of slagging off forriners. One went to Hungary, but came back pretty sharpish when he developed cancer and needed long term treatment only available on the NHS.
Another lives in the Pyrenees and his FB posts are all about local events and in French. What annoys me is that he still spouts off about what a great idea brexit was. He wouldn’t understand irony if it kicked him in the balls.

They left the EU because of refugees and immigration only to become economic refugees themselves.
You have to have brown skin to be an economic refugee. Otherwise you’re just an expat making a smart economic move. It’s very different!
