I know, I feel crazy recommending it, but these billionaires are just outright saying what they intend to do and are doing it before our very eyes, and still nobody believes it’s happening. Moderates and independents have their heads in the sand.

I know some very intelligent people who, because they lean conservative, think what’s going on is normal. They don’t pay attention to it because they have families and work to deal with.

What happens to the United States of America when youve rolled back all regulations and fired all government employees? When there is no confidence in the services the national government is supposed to employ, why would people turn to them instead of state or private resources? What does being united have to offer each state anymore, if funding is frozen? Nothing.

That leaves 50 divided states and a national army controlled by one person. America is cooked beyond belief.

Seriously crazy shit afoot. Solidarity from north of the border.

just outright saying what they intend to do

Part of the problem is they’re SO hard to listen to. Culty circular logic, the smarmy prep school punk attitude, so impressed with their own middling intelligence. The “marketplace of ideas” type language. They’re very easy to tune out (and I usually do).

Even in this doc, I had to pause and recommit to watching to the end a few times, because every time one of them starts expounding, my monkey brain screeches “DANGER this person has no soul and would murder you for a toonie!” And the video is less than half an hour long. Your conservative-leaning smart acquaintances face so much more conditioning they need to break through on top of that.

Those pasty ghouls must love our neutered attention spans.

At the risk of sounding like a Pollyanna, there’s still hope. I work with immigrants and refugees every day - from Eritrea, Afghanistan, Iran, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Colombia and on - and if THEY can keep going after all the shit their governments and neighbours have put them through, if they can keep trying to build something better knowing what they know, then I have to too. Many feel and act the same irl. Like a good marriage/partnership, hope takes work; it’s not just something you have or don’t.

We certainly won’t see much of it in the FEEDS though. So again, ty for the link.
