minus-squareKecessa@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up4·2 months agoSeems pretty obvious to me that presiding over a case that involves the person that gave a judge their job shouldn’t be allowed in the first place…
minus-squareripcord@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up0·edit-22 months agoHmmm, what about the opposite - a judge chosen by the opposition? Like, what if it was Biden on trial for some reason and it was a judge chosen by Trump. Would you have the same concern? I agree it sucks and she clearly sucks, but I’m not sure a simple rule like your saying would definitely make sense.
minus-squareKecessa@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up2·2 months agoUnless there’s been a bunch of recent deaths it shouldn’t be too hard to find a judge named by neither Trump nor Biden.
minus-squareCurlyWurlies4All@slrpnk.netlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·2 months agoWhy does the executive branch have any say over the judicial branch? Shouldn’t they operate independently of each other?
minus-squarehydrospanner@lemmy.worldcakelinkfedilinkarrow-up2·2 months ago Why does the executive branch have any say over the judicial branch? That would be the Constitution. I believe Article II, Section 2.
minus-squarejaybone@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up1·2 months agoToo bad it doesn’t make sense to do it that way anymore.
