I just created this as a place for everyone that believes in being armed as a last resort to stop federal govt from becoming fascist. For me guns are only meant to defend my family and friends. I think if everyone is armed, govt will think twice before trying to roll us over, a bit like MAD of Nukes, it’s a big deterrent.

I did not want the “Liberals” prefix but I do mean “everyone” is welcome here including LGBTQ and minorities.

I would love to get conservative friends come talk to us, provided they are tolerant to minorities, it would be nice for all of us to work together rather than let the oligarchs roll us over by dividing us.

Genuine question from someone who isn’t an American…

How far does this shit show have to go before you act on it?

See, I figure you keep guns to stop tyrants, but how much of a tyrant? Like, one that threatens to invade sovereign countries? One that makes thousands jobless, or seeks to disenfranchise whole sections of the population? What about one that is trying to shift the federal reserve into a cryptocurrency that they can openly defraud? Maybe one who renegs upon the deals the US has made with the world?

Really, I’m just asking if those guns do anything other than give you something to hold whilst you watch it happen.

The threshold for violence has to be a lot bigger than them laying of 100s of thousands of people. IMO, for political activism peaceful protesting is the best method as proven by MLK, Gandhi, etc. We lost the election because 40% did not vote, Trump won with only 32% vote. Harris also had 31% votes.

For me guns are mostly for defense not offense. It is to protect my family and friends.

Most important aspect of guns are deterrence. Imagine 50 millions people have guns, now the army/cops will think twice before harassing the citizens because they are all armed. Yeah, the army has heavy weapons and drones as such, but those are useless when you are dealing with 50 millions people spread over a million sq mile.

The lay offs were just a small part of the many examples I gave.

However, what does that represent if not a dismantling of the state apparatus? It is quite literally a move towards fascism.

As I responded to the other comment where you say that… You are presuming the 50 millions are all on the same side in that scenario, when the rest of the world sees the US as incredibly divided. There are many more people that, democratically at least, supported a fascist leaning president than didn’t.

If a violent uprising does happen… You won’t be being shot at by the army or cops. It will be the guy that lives down the street.

It’s a pretty hard question to answer when there isn’t someone actually pointing a gun at you. This takeover/infiltration of our nation is happening in a “nonviolent” way thus far and through the guise of “democracy” so it’s hard to feel justified in taking up arms at this point, though it certainly is something on many peoples’ minds. How far is too far? It’s really hard to tell and this all still feels surreal to a lot of people.

We are still a democracy. We still have the legal process.

For me guns are mostly for defense not offense. It is to protect my family and friends. Frankly my hope is I will never have to fine upon another human being.

That’s a fair enough answer… But from the outside we see a country riddled with guns and one where that deterrent effect doesn’t seem to work in practice.

It also, somewhat, contradicts your claim that it stops your government from becoming fascist.

I think that’s because you base it on a false premise that those 50 millions of people will be on the same side… When we can clearly see a country completely divided between those that actively welcome fascism and those that don’t.

None of this is a criticism, just an observation, and I respect you for your desire to never fire a gun at another human. I think we all wish that for you.
