“It’s so perfect as a great and cherished state. Keeping, ‘Oh, Canada,’ the national anthem, I love it. I think it’s great. Keep it. But it’ll be for the state.”

This seems a “relatively old” quote. He’s been asked to STFU by Carney, and so its only news if he repeats this “stump speech” after told to STFU.

He genuinely thinks flattery will convince people to be taken over by a budding dictatorship. Canadians are supposed to forget that the USA is against everything they stand for and say…

“He said we could be the greatest state!!! Who gives a shit about free healthcare and reproductive rights!! We’ll be cherished!!!”

Not to mention that he seems the be saying that paying for anything is being ripped off. It reminds me of the documentary on his business practices that resurfaced during his first run. I think it was called what’s the deal. The were many examples of him ripping off his vendors and subcontractors saying their work was substandard so he either wasn’t paying or wasn’t paying the full amount.

Now he seems to be applying the same thinking to imports. Why should America pay full price when he never has? He naively thinks tariffs mean America gets the goods for less overal.

I hate trying to apply logic to something that’s so inherently bullshit but even if you were to annex Canada, why the hell does he think it would be one state and not several?

Because he doesn’t respect you enough to think that your provinces deserve to remain independent of each other. Or to know that you have provinces.

He knows enough to know he would not want to give several states worth of leftish leaning angry states the vote that would take any chance of him remaining in power. Not that there would ever be a vote again in America if he got to the point of taking a run at Canada and Greenland.

He really doesn’t know when to shut up, does he?

This won’t turn out the way he expects it to. Canadians already seemed pretty happy to stop buying American goods and contributing to tourism, and the rest of the world no longer trusts us. Trying to strangle their economy by stifling trade goes both ways, and it’s going to hurt the country that nobody wants to trade with a lot more than the one with plenty of opportunities to form new trade deals.

I think it’s more likely to hurt the country that cannot produce most of its own food, rather than the one that can.

It’s “O Canada!” It’s the vocative, you bronze bitchlet, not some interjection. We’re not expressing fucking surprise.

So I guess an hour long slideshow from Perun about a hypothetical conflict between eagles and geese is inevitable now.

Maybe Canada could take one for the team and let each province join up and break the electoral college. Insist on supreme court justices and constitutional changes that leave them in change. As some one who lives in neither country, please??
