I never said it should be about the EU, I said it should have a European dimension.

    This clearly does not.

High speed rail is definitely something that’s important internationally. If done well, it could replace a bunch of polluting flights with a train trip

It’s about high speed rail? I really couldn’t figure that out from the article. I guess HS2 stands for “Highspeed 2” or something?

In that case, yes, it definitely has a European dimension. I retract my objection.

        Thanks for filling me in.

But the article could have used the word “rail” just once. It would have been enough.

In the UK hs2 is a very big thing and this article was written for them, here you would have to be living under a rock not to have heard of it.

I would not expect Europeans to know so the op posting here should make it clear,

Yeah, I’ll bold it for you so you can see:

Barely. And even then, I would not really be interested in a post about a failed government land scheme in Portugal or Austria in this community either unless it somehow intersected with EU policy or influenced relations with its neighbors.

Boy I sure am dumb, I didn’t realise you said Europe and not EU.

or influenced relations with its neighbors

If you’re going to start a pedantic argument on the ass end of the fediverse for an article nobody’s really going to read, at least ensure that you’re actually being correctly pedantic.

The country is still in Europe so it’s still Europe related. Do people complain when news in the world news community doesn’t affect the entire world?

I don’t really care. You called the poster stupid, then misrepresented his argument while quoting him. It’s entertainingly incompetent.

You seem to have a hard time grasping points in general. I never cared about your or his points about this topic. I think I made that pretty clear when I described this as the ass end of the fediverse about an article nobody’s going to read.

I thought your flailing pedantry was funny though.

The other words also have meaning.

Besides, the other poster brought me up to speed. I understand the European angle now.
