Relatives of Marina Yandiyeva, a 28-year-old woman from Ingushetia who fled the republic in early October with help from the human rights group Team Against Torture, are threatening to kill Magomed Alamov, a lawyer for the group, and his family if Yandiyeva does not return home within a week, according to Team Against Torture and the crisis group SK SOS.
Yandiyeva fled her home, where her family had restricted her freedom of movement and subjected her to violence, on October 5.
Ingushetia in the North Caucasus shares land borders with Georgia to its south and the Russian republics of North Ossetia-Alania and Chechnya to its west and east. It is one of the republics that make up Russia.
According to the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Ingushetia is “a lawless zone where enemies of the press can attack journalists with impunity.”
"Let’s handle this situation without consequences for people, without consequences for our family. Let’s quietly, peacefully release this person. He has five children and a father who’s critically ill with cancer. Little kids, like kittens. You’re a Muslim, you have a heart,” -Yandiyeva’s relative.
It’s always unsettling when people try to do things like this and pass the responsibility onto other people.
“You’re a Muslim you have a heart. If you don’t come home we, also Muslims, are going to kill a person for no good reason”
Lol religion of peace strikes again.
It’s right up there with " why do you make me hit you?"
And “Would be a shame if something happened to him”
Sounds like it is time for that lawyer and their family to flee too.
Considering their only chance appears to be with the Russian Interior Ministry and Prosecutor, I would say that the time to flee was yesterday. If you’re relying on Russia upholding human rights, you’re not in a good spot.

Well that’s a sad not the onion
Surely the minimum a government should be expected to do is prevent the interior of their country from falling to anarchy. Sort yourself out, Russia.
Things sound serious if both chechen and ingush are involved, something like a federal level of support. Appeals to local authorities are then rather formal, demonstrative to EU, so there’s no doubt she and others need a shelter. I doubt returning her would help anyone at this point. He and his relatives need to leave asap while being put under a microscope by the parties involved.
