This show was all that.
Why is this the only French word brits insist on pronouncing the French way?
Ohhhhhh man, I haven’t heard this chortle in my head in ages. Thank you friend, hOnh Onhh onhh onnhhh!
L’dong bon hon et long un croissant!
My hamster has run off with my croissant!
HOH! Hoh hoh! Hoh!
that’s the only correct pronunciation
Had this mixed in with the background music playlist at my wedding reception, and I got to witness an older gentleman sitting near the speaker look increasingly confused.
This made me legit lol. Thank you!
Oh my god I forgot entirely about Pierre Escargot. Some neurons have just fired for the first time in decades.
Tried to order a croissant at a gas station in Oregon once — I lived there, but my French accent turns croissant into a whole performance.
The Mexican woman behind the counter couldn’t see what I meant (glass case + clutter) or understand, we both laughed a lot, and I ended up with the croissant and a breakfast burrito.
Could’ve been worse.
It’s best to just say “cross ant” because then people know you’re saying it wrong on purpose and you don’t have to feel bad about pronouncing it wrong
Being a native french speaker, I feel it’s actually closer to the real pronunciation than the “kwah” alternative. I would add don’t pronounce the T and you’re pretty much there.
If I had to write it phonetically for english speakers, I’d write CROSS ON
which is not an endorsement of christianity
Yeah it seems native english speakers(mainly my fellow muricans) are baffled by the pronunciation of the french “r”.
It took me practicing it for a while to finally understand how to properly pronounce it, but I’m still ashamed to use it in public for fear of being mocked by both french and english speakers alike. LOL.
😤🐜
I immediately thought of this too. 😂
Core memory unlocked.
