Trump has said he will end the war, without saying how, and criticised billions of dollars in aid for Ukraine under Biden. The warring sides believe Trump is likely to push for peace talks - not known to have been held since the war’s earliest months - and are trying to attain strong positions before negotiations.
That’s interesting. I would imagine it’s more true for Ukraine than Russia. Everyone knows Trump is going to take Russia’s side in this conflict.
is this because of a larger payload, or because they are just running our of shit to throw at them?
It’s purely a theatrical threat. Russia still has plenty of drones and other types of missiles. Supplies are limited sure, but it’s not like they’re running out yet. This is just a demonstration of how crazy Putin is after changing their nuclear stance. And also a response to the US testing an ICBM just recently.
It’s a warning. The US allowed Ukraine to hit Russian territory so Russia is saying we can escalate it right back.
Some military experts said the ICBM launch, if confirmed, could be seen as an act of deterrence by Moscow following Kyiv’s strikes into Russia with Western weapons this week.
“An ICBM launch can certainly be seen as a threatening gesture, potentially in response to the lifting of restrictions on ATACMS and Storm Shadow. It’s a means of deterrence,” said a European military source.
I’d like to see them try and escalate it back to hitting the US. Let’s see Trump defend an attack on American soil.
There’s no reality where Russia does this and comes out on top. That’s just asking to be beaten.
