Hi everyone. I recently downloaded Organic Maps and am interested in trying it out as an alternative to Google Maps. However, when I went into my CarPlay settings in my phone to put the app in a good location, it is not listed. I did some googling and it seems like Organic Maps should support CarPlay. Just checking for confirmation on that. Thanks!
Yea no, CarPlay is definitely supported and works fine on my end. Not sure, any iOS updates perhaps or anything of the sorts? The app shows fine in the customisation menu, but did you ever connect to the car since installing it? I have no idea if the apps maybe only show up once they were „initialised“ for that car.
I actually have not plugged it into the car yet. I thought I remembered apps showing up in the carplay settings immediately after downloading, but maybe that’s not the case. I’ll report back after I’ve tried.
Carplay does indeed work once you plug the phone into the car. But, it doesn’t seem to support the “carplay home screen” where you see the map in one half and your music in the other. It always boots me back to google maps there, which is annoying and will probably prevent me from using this in the car much. The car icon also moves in frames at a time, is often behind where I am, and the voice assistant’s voice sounds very outdated and unpleasant. Hopefully it gets better over time.
