  • Not the person you’re replying to but wanted to share my 2 cents

You might consider keeping things broad given how small a platform lemmy is and how niche the subject matter is. I like the idea of them being separate but splitting community more than strictly necessary runs the risk of the community dieing without enough people having things to post. You can always acknowledge future plans to split, and make it two separate communities in the future

Ultimately you know best what kinda space you wanna make and how you wanna go about it, I just think your community idea is neat and wanna see it reach a stable number of active users :)

Hope you have a great day!

  • I mean, that kinda seems like why I’d want there to be housing specifically for trans women. Building housing specifically for trans folks seems like the wrong way to solve housing discrimination or housing unaffordability. I think those problems would probably be more effectively soved through other means

But building essentially shelter housing for trans folks without a safe place to go seems like a great way to create a space for them that is safe and trans inclusive should they find themselves in crisis, and unwelcome or uncomfortable using other faculties that are disproportionately serving cis women who may or may not be welcoming or understanding.

Now they just also have to implement policies that address housing unaffordability, and housing discrimination. If its like the situation in the US, kinda feels like thats never gonna happen 🙃

Being hostile to folks who are different from you on the basis that they’re different from you is shitty behavior. Leave that kinda shit for Facebook

You can make a life choice without going out of your way to antagonize folks who made a different one. You know, exactly like you’re bitching about people doing on your blog post.

  • Because if its legal then the industry can be regulated to insure the safety of women working in it. But as long as it’s illegal there are no regulations, and no one sex workers can go to for help because they’re working illegally. It’s also known as the worlds oldest profession; its not going anywhere. And as someone who knows a lot of people who are pro-prostitution legality, they aren’t the people you seem to think they are. They’re all kinky queer folks. The folks I know who are most ardent supporters of the idea are women, some of whom are sex workers themselves just producing content rather than working as prostitutes.

Its an industry that always has, and always will exist, and if you legalize it you can protect the people working in it.

  • If I understand correctly Italy also has a constitution…

Not sure why everyone is downvoting the original commenter. He seems to be correct that this is not supported by the Italian constitution. Kinda feels like we all ignored how italy’s government actually works in favor of going “actually this isn’t about America”… In a way that seems distinctly like it would only be possible from an American perspective 😅

Sincerely, an American who knows little to nothing about Italy’s government
