As if “person” wasn’t clearly a gendered word for regressives.
The problem with defending the purity of the English language is that English is about as pure as a cribhouse whore. We don’t just borrow words; on occasion, English has pursued other languages down alleyways to beat them unconscious and rifle their pockets for new vocabulary.

Get your hands on some german Fanta. It’s the good slightly less shitty stuff.
The color difference alone says it all:
Don’t discount the other generations culpability in this though. Conservatives aren’t a problem we can simply wait out. Newer generations are doing slightly better but even among GenZ there are many who would agree with the current system if it were more in their favor instead of the boomers. Education and propaganda are getting worse, GenZ identifies more religious than Millenials, disinformation keeps getting more and more widespread in a social media ecosystem that has - for younger generations - for better, but also for worse, largely replaced the news.
Uhh, do Disney!
My most hated meme people use right now is: “We’ve had the worst storms/rains/drought/fires of the century every year, that’s just how it is.”
Bitch if it’s the worst of the century every year that means it’s getting worse every year! There’s no status quo in this!
I loved playing Ghost of Tsushima (gotta play it again when I get home) and I really enjoy everything Erika Ishii does, this is amazing!
Enkrod feels euphoric due to every D-list in this thread menacing with spikes of Dwarf Fortress
There are different kinds of proteins build from different amino acids, 9 of 20 amino acids are essential, meaning our bodies can not produce them, so we need to eat them. Meat contains all the amino acids we need in our bodies in the amount we need in our bodies. For vegetables that’s not necessarily the case.
Because of that vegetable protein needs to be very varied and balanced to be a complete diet, and just lettuce and apples is not enough.
In a first world country we can get these vegetable proteins varied and year round with little to no problem, which makes vegan diet a sustainable and morally superior diet.
In the developing world people are generally happy about being able to have a complete diet, moral questions take a backseat to survival and health, so carnivorous or piscivorous diets are far more common.
It wasn’t that long ago when Republicans complained about participation trophies and how, at sporting events in schools, the ones who did not win still were acknowledged for their effort. They were complaining that it would make children weak, not want to compete, not give their best effort if they got recognition without being the top dog.
Now they demand their participation trophy and it better come with tendies!
A (very simplified) timeline of US intervention in the middle-east.
Iran democratically elected a secular leader, but he wanted to use iranian oil for iran. So the CIA instead helped the Shah into dictatorial power, who would sell the drilling rights to american and british companies. He opressed his populace so bad, that they turned to Ayatollah Khomeni and his religious extremists to get rid of him. The religious zealots have been in power ever since.
To fight against the Ayatollah Regime that drove out western oil companies, the US illegally bypasses a weapons embargo to arm a neighbouring dictator called Saddam Hussein. He wages the first Gulf War on Iran for 8 years, which results in ~750.000 dead. The poison gas attacks happen with the knowledge of the US.
Russia invades Afghanistan, the US arms local resistance fighters, a group called Al Quaeda under one Osama bin Laden. To help the islamists against the godless Russians, thousands of mercenaries and religious extremists from muslim countries are recruited by the CIA and brought to Afghanistan, they become the Taliban. More than a million civillians die.
Saddam Hussein, seeing no win against Iran instead invades the absolutist, slavetrading monarchy of Kuwait. Kuwait had opened it oil-wells to western companies, so with the help of the CIA and an american PR-agency, the daughter of Kuwaiti ambassador pretends to be a nurse and lies about Iraqi soldiers ripping babies out of incubators. The world is shocked. What follows is the second Gulf War. More than a million dead civillians again.
Following this second gulf war, american troops are stationed in the gulf region protecting “western values” (the oil wells). The religious extremists in Afghanistan are not amused, the sheer existence of nonbelievers on holy ground is blasphemy to them. Al Quaeda (formerly funded by the US and the House of Saud) begin their campaign against the west.
Following September 11 2001 the US invades first Afghanistan, then Iraq and don’t really bother with the long-term stabilizing of a region they so effectively destabilized. From the chaos rises the Islamic State.
Edit: I don’t really speak french, don’t even think I’ve spelled most of these correctly and I have no idea where the accents go. I think I mostly use the above expressions, since they’re occuring in German as well as in English.
Given the desolate state of the US educational system… mhhm, true.
Well given the popularity of the Joker that’ll likely change.
Waddaya mean not well known? For me it’s in like… the top twenty of french expressions.
Man, that’s some good memories.
Yazinda, Durin, Arva von Harben, Tjalf, Melina and Caldrin, I miss you guys.
I can, I did, it fucked me up mentally. I’m 41 now and still suffer some of the consequences of the abuse by my peers and one especially vicious teacher.
That’s not how bacteria multiply. There is horizontal gene-transfer, but that would be a very slim chance.
No ancient bacteria aren’t the problem, multi-resistant strains that have already evolved and are evolving in our clinics are the real problem, some bacteria that haven’t been an issue for quite some time, because our antibiotics simply killed them, have now developed resistances and are suddenly becoming deadly again.
E. Coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella, some of the most prevalent bacteria in humans are rapidly becoming multi-drug-resistant and resistant to desinfectants like chlorine. These superbugs already account for a shockingly high number of deaths in healthcare facilities and the situation is only getting worse as more and more countries use increasing amounts of antimicrobials, kickstarting microbial evolution into overdrive.
Meh, one of my pots came pre-seasoned and I just started using it as if I’d seasoned it myself, after the first couple of weeks of simply using it, it now has the exact same surface as everything I seasoned myself, because every time you fry something in it, it just improves the seasoning.
shrug
I mean I’m happy I know how to season my stuff, but if it lowers the entry-barrier to cast iron I think it’s worth it.
Which drives the partisanisation of the media. Bozo is right about one thing: the trust in media is at an all time low in the US and trust is build through accurate and unbiased reporting. Endorsing politicians is biased as hell.
The newspapers repudiation of a fascist in dangerous times would hit that much harder had they not endorsed other politicians in less dangerous times.
So now it’s damned if they do, damned if they don’t… swallow that pill they must at some point. But it would have been an easier pill to swallow after the rule of fascism in the US had been averted.
