This is really to the point: “That’s a little bit like telling someone who’s got a large drinking habit or smoking habit, ‘you need to quit that as soon as possible.’”. We know we have the life threatening habit but can’t stop the addiction!

Conservatives just have no idea how research is done and think they can tell people what to research. The absurdity is that no scientific be can tell someone to research something that hasn’t been discovered yet!
It’s law and order with a bit of “thou shall not steal”. There’re people who never question the root cause.
That’s why the Open Market Committee is the most important organ of US government. It adjusts the rules to maximise shareholder value. It’s great if you are a billionaire.
It sounds like if you bought your phone from Apple or Samsung or JBHIFI you are stuffed. Can’t believe it.
However as a common carrier they should be bound by rules like other providers of public infrastructure. To say that if people don’t like it they can leave trivialises the situation. People are being subjected to private propaganda and private censorship on a platform that masquerades as a bastion of free speech. Doesn’t matter if it’s Twitter or Facebook or Instagram , they are purveyors of other people’s ideas. If they manipulate or distort or censor then they should be sorted out.
It seems that he actually said the words and from what he has said that he doesn’t like a reasonable work/life balance. He probably thinks that he’s a great employer however the millennial workforce may disagree.
I don’t think he is joking. As an out of touch billionaire who thinks that he is a modern feudal lord, he sounds on message.
It’s pretty obvious that if you are a blinkered radical, then everything is about you and your cult.
France has had to dial back its nuclear power production due to solar production which is a clear signal that in Australia, Coalition policy is rubbish.
And in the meantime the government continues to not consider the climate crisis in approving more greenhouse gas emitting mines. What hope have that they will force existing mines to clean up their acts?
Thanks. It was not obvious. I wonder how well the distinction is appreciated by the target young audience? I know that the young seem to simplify their use of language.
I thought Russians referred to motherland not the fatherland. Is this a Putin shift?
It’s amazing that catching up with the rest of the world and using safer more efficient technology already in use is so expensive and so difficult to implement. Who do they think we are, all LNP supporters?
It’s one of the reasons I subscribe to a couple of news outlets, I value the news and someone needs to pay. Most people have forgotten that they used to “buy” newspapers, after all, everything is free on the internet.
Ahh, Mike Johnson and the Russian GOP.
We still use disinformation when, given the seriousness, we should be calling them what they are, lies.
Disinformation or more accurately, lying, is Russian doctrine. Everything that they say seems to be a lie and designed to delay appropriate action.
Trump just says stuff, brain farts really, that his MAGA sycophants just lap up and suddenly approve. On day soon they will be cheering as he jerks off in public.
What you say is true though my point is that to many bean counters, research should only be done on something that addresses the current bottom line. It’s this type of view that conservatives take to heart and it’s why they tend to try to stifle higher education and research institutions.
