High school senior are now off on exams, and uni doesn’t start until around end Feb. Semester one is further away than Semester one lasts.

Our education is failing, students aren’t getting involved, and we are finding it harder to focus post covid. So let’s put our students on ln a 4 month holiday during high unemployment rates, rising costs of living and a burning, resource emptying world. Great for mental health.

Back in ww2 when the allies ran the bombing campaign of German cities the “justification” was that civilians were being used to manufacture arms for the armed forces therefore a part of the military logistics network, and in fairness yes they were - like the British were at the start.

On the other hand it is a deliberate attack on civilians who are not in uniform, not part of the armed forces and not combatants. You could quite easily follow this path to everyone who pays tax or trades with that country as supporting the war effort.

Going at it from a different direction, terrorism is defined as non state actor, using violence against civilians, for a political objective. Therefore terrorism.

Is it justified - probably not but neither is much of warfare. Proportional but didn’t minimize civilian casualties.

Looking at intent, this could very well be “speak English internally”. Translating instructions from a doctor to (for example) Chinese, communication in Chinese between staff then translating to English to someone carrying out the instructions does add two more places something can get missed or go wrong. It also leaves out opportunity for someone who doesn’t speak that language to overhear any mistakes.

Patent to staff communication needs to be done in the best way possible- this could be own language, but a common language may deliver better results. Staff are trained, let them make the call.

This could also be people bitching “I thought this was a NZ hospital, not China” and management having to deal with that issue.
