I’m pretty sure it’s just headphones attached to the nasal mask.

I think this is helpful context from the actual report (linked at the top of the WaPo article):
In 2022, half as many (47%) of adolescent girls and young women acquired HIV as in 2010. Even with this decline, we are not on track to meet our 2030 target to end new HIV infections among adolescent girls and young women.
The global sex-distribution of new HIV infections among adolescents is driven largely by sub-Saharan Africa, which carries the overwhelming global burden of HIV. In 2022, 33% of older adolescents aged 15-19 years newly infected with HIV lived outside of the region. In the Middle East and North Africa region, the number of young people living with HIV has increased by 13% since 2010. In East Asia and the Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean, two thirds of new adolescent infections, age 10-19 years, occur in boys. Stigma, discrimination, societal inequalities and violence sabotage the efforts of adolescents and young people to protect themselves against HIV and other health threats. Young key populations are especially vulnerable.
Great post, thanks! Looking at the pictures makes me feel like I must have played a different sierra war game using the same engine back in the day. It all looks very familiar, but I’m pretty sure I never played this.
I think there is a typo for you to fix; it sounds like the following should say to not just grab the best weapon:
Be careful, especially as a Confederate player to grab whatever the best, most high value weapon is within reach as the more expensive weapons tend to have higher rates of fire, which translates into more expense to keep the unit supplied with ammunition. Running out of supplies will turn the finest repeating rifle into a glorified club and make the unit easy pickings.
From the article:
At the start of the study, 20% of participants reported some level of smell or taste loss. After the third day of treatment, the proportion of participants reporting such symptoms in the ensitrelvir groups started dropping more sharply than did the proportion in the placebo group. At day seven, the percentage of participants with smell or taste loss was 39% lower in the group taking 250-milligram pills than in the placebo group. Three weeks after treatment began, all groups reported similar symptom scores. [emphasis added]
Unless I’m misreading this, they saw some notable reduction in symptoms at 1 week, but the benefit had faded away by the time they hit three weeks. This seems to imply that the drug doesn’t provide any reduction in long-term loss of smell (or at least, such a benefit was not shown in this particular trial).
If I recall correctly, he says it is hard on his vocal chords to do the voice. Have you read something where he says he wants to keep doing the voice acting? Or might he be happy to move to an easier role?
A total fine of $25m USD spread across three carriers. I have no idea what the scale is of the mobile providers are in SK. Is $25m much money or is this a US-style slap on the wrist fine (aka “the cost of doing business”)?
Thanks!
If you try another type, try rolled oats first, not steel cut. Then if that works well you could think about trying steel cut. Your standard Quaker Oats are rolled oats (Quaker also sells quick oats).
Steel cut oats are the least processed, are chunkier, and require the most cooking. Rolled oats are flattened and steamed, so require less cooking than steel cut. Quick oats are processed even more and require the least cooking. So if you try rolled, you will probably get a little bit heartier/crunchier of a topping. Steel cut might end up being just straight hard or overly chewy.
OP, are you using rolled oats or another type? Rolled oats (vs steel cut oats or quick oats) sounds like the right type, but I thought I should ask.
Voyager has good features for hiding posts as well as marking posts read and hiding read posts.
You might give the Voyager app a try. It’s what I use. It has a hide post option, as well as a “mark read on scroll” option and a button to hide read posts. I think you have to enable the last two in its settings.
Ah, sorry about that. And thank you! I refreshed the comments before asking you to do that. I’m not sure if I missed your edit or it hadn’t shown up for me yet.
You should edit your comment to remove the mischaracterization. The nsfw mod was WAY more clear than what you say.
As a layman, this doesn’t sound any different than what my (vague) picture of what the “great firewall” already is. My assumption is that the great firewall is generally about:
-preventing those inside China from access unapproved content from outside
-preventing those outside China from accessing unapproved content from inside China
-monitoring and controlling content inside China
Can anyone speak to how this could be notably different than what China has already been doing in that realm? Or correct my understanding of what we believe China already has in place?
That is a great article. Everyone here should click over and read that one!
Hello, 30-years-ago me. My sister and I had a similar age gap. We had an amazing relationship/friendship throughout our childhood and it was really hard when she left for college. The good news is that we still have an amazing relationship and she is still the best sister I could ever ask for.
It’s a funny thing that when we are young, everything feels so permanent when in reality, your life is changing incredibly quickly. When you get hit by something like this, it’s uncomfortable as fuck to see that reality. Change is hard, but it also leads to and comes along with growth… and growth is good.
I don’t say this to be dismissive of what you are going through, only to say that change happens. It is a part of life that we learn to deal with because it can’t be avoided. What is happening in your life probably hurts. It’s probably scary. The uncertainty sucks. All those feelings are valid.
She will be farther away. You will see her less. She is going to be incredibly busy at times. But she is also there for you and you two will still have each other and have time together.
Of course, I have no guarantees — your life isn’t mine. But for me, it wasn’t nearly as bad as it seemed (it’s easy to imagine the worst). Just like it was awesome having an older sister as your friend while at home, it’s really awesome to have an older sister in college to talk to and visit get to experience bits of that life with.
