You open the util, change the settings, close it, and that’s it. Downside is the cable… While it is technically USBC, they’ve done that thing where the port is recessed in a specifically shaped divot that only their cable will fit.

As an old school doom mapper from the 90s, it absolutely isn’t. You build a room, apply F_SKY1 to the ceiling, and that’s it. The engine renders it more like a wall, but it’s not a traditional skybox in that it doesn’t exist in the level geometry outside of the room it’s applied to.

Not really. They have a lot of bits and in-jokes which are going to seem incomprehensible to anyone from the outside, but most of them are pretty chill if you engage in good faith. It’s like a lot of tech communities; if you don’t do your research and ask intelligent questions, you’re likely to get told to RTFM.

Speed Freeks is extremely underrated. Multiplayer only. It plays like Unreal Tournament x Twisted Metal.

Timing and length of ads won’t be consistent between users so this approach doesn’t work.

Using a different client won’t help if the ads are injected directly into the video stream.

Oh it’s an absolute slog for sure. And I can’t even guarantee it still works. I wouldn’t have even tried if I didn’t happen to chance upon a suitable device. Definitely wouldn’t recommend paying eBay prices for one just to do this.

I’ve done this successfully, but you need to jump thru quite a few hoops. These instructions are for Kindle only. I think dedrm can cope with Nook encryption but I don’t know how to do it. It was a while ago now, but to the best of my recollection:

1. Get yourself an older model Kindle. I used a Kindle 3 that I found at Goodwill for $20. You may have to rejig your home WiFi if your model doesn’t support the right version of WPA.
2. Register it to your Amazon account somehow. IIRC, you have to try and fail to do it from the device, then Amazon will email you instructions.
3. Install Calibre and setup the dedrm plugin. It’s pretty well documented.
4. Download what you want onto the Kindle. Pretty sure you have to use the Amazon website for this because of SSL issues on the older models.
5. Setup your Kindle with Calibre. This is also pretty easy and and well documented.
6. Grab the DRMed books off the Kindle into Calibre.
7. Run the conversion process in Calibre to remove DRM and convert to (for example) epub.
8. Optional: Jailbreak your Kindle and install KOReader to get a bit more value out of the obsolete brick you had to purchase to do this. This is a whole other set of hoops.

I’m not totally sure all this still works. You’re honestly probably better off getting a Boox device and downloading stuff from Anna’s Archive or similar.

The code of conduct only covers dealing with suppliers. With no breakup of the duopoly and no regulations in place regarding price at point of sale, making it mandatory is only going to force prices higher to maintain the margin. I do believe suppliers should get paid fairly, but the average person is going to get fucked here.

I’m in a similar situation with my partner; she does game, but only shitty repetitive predatory mobile puzzle games. I got her Stardew to try and she absolutely hated it. I have, however, had some limited success with puzzle RPGs like Ticket to Earth.
