I’m also doing this. Proton is amazing, for the most part. Ente Photos is also incredible for ditching Google Photos, although I’ll probably switch to Proton Photos when that comes out since Ente is pricey.

I just watched the video because from reading OP’s post I was also confused about this - it’s 100% okay to criticize Hamas, but IMO the post didn’t do a great job at explaining why it feels like it’s actually targeting Palestinians as a whole.
They repeat several times throughout the video lyrics about Palestinian freedom. I think that’s the biggest reason I agree it should be removed. If they’d kept it very specific to Hamas and only talked about all the horrific stuff they’re doing, then that’s one thing. But it seems like they’re very focused on just general “Palestinian freedom” stuff, or at least they included it, which means that’s what it’s actually about.
A pull request was made in April 2023 to implement Electron’s safeStorage API to address this problem, but there has been no follow-up from Signal
I hate hearing shit like this. What are they thinking?
He’s wrong about what he said, too. You do not send Proton your private key.
Proton Pass works offline. Proton isn’t a walled garden.
We should be stopping it wherever we can. It doesn’t need to be one before another. Being conscious about where you can get more of it is helpful.
Water - we distill our water, and you can also use other types of filters which remove it. Absorbing through skin - we know we should be wary about what products use it now, so can do some research and be careful about touching stuff.
This is similar to global warming. The biggest issue is large corporations. That doesn’t mean consumers shouldn’t stop worrying about littering or driving gas cars until corporations stop.
I’d think any sane society, business, or institution would blacklist him / remove any certifications he has, sue him, and possibly other courses of legal action like fraud.
I get that there are lessons learned for new advances in technology and society, but companies like DuPont and 3M knew about this and hid it. Then when legislation comes out banning chemicals they use, they change basically one atom in the molecule to avoid the regulation and keep going. They aren’t honest mistakes.
Yeah, it absolutely astounds me that they polluted the entire world and poisoned everyone and everything within it, and then the people are footing the bill for trying to cleaning it up. And that’s only our drinking water, not all the plants and animals we eat all the time that have it in them in probably huge amounts. AFAIK there is no plan for that at all so our cells will still be swimming in them.
3M and others should be taken over by the government and turned into nonprofits where 100% of their profit goes to cleaning up the world.
Similar to OG Beauty and the Beast. Originally the Beast was kind from the start and it was all about appearance. Disney changed it so he was a fixer upper. Kinda misses the whole point.
decades too late
Actually almost 100 years now.
Do we have any plan for how to avoid colliding with asteroids or other things while traveling so fast?
Why do potatoes need to be wrapped in plastic at all?
If you send them the message in plain text they have no way of verifying you aren’t just making it up to get someone you don’t like banned. Keeping it encrypted means they know the sender wrote it.
If it’s with asymmetric encryption, wouldn’t it be possible for the report button to generate a key based on their private key which can only be used to decrypt the given message?
I believe Java is the best option for this type of application
Why?
Rust’s speed is a cherry on top. The main reason to use it is its language design / correctness guarantees.
I’ve been programming for several decades and understand nuance and subjectivity vs objectivity when it comes to this, and strongly believe Rust is just objectively much better than Java as a language.
One example is that Rust doesn’t have null while Java does. The creator of null gave an excellent talk called The Billion Dollar Mistake about why null was such a bad idea, and said languages shouldn’t not have used it. Instead, the alternative he gives is what Rust does.
Things like this are actually hugely important.
Also, Rust was “most loved” language in the StackOverflow developer survey for eight years in a row for a reason.
Other than Sublinks, I have never seen anyone post about how they really want to work with Java.
Is there any evidence that species with higher rates of mutation, and therefore higher chances of evolutionary advantages, stick around? Or is rate of mutation not something which can be encoded in DNA / biology?
Doesn’t it just use Google / Bing under the hood? If those both suck then it wouldn’t improve much, right? Isn’t SearXNG more about privacy?
It is, but I’d barely consider it a launch of anything. It displays photos, but that’s it. I could already upload and view photos on Proton Drive before they “launched” this.
