It sucks, but sadly a lot of these things are luxuries. Some are getting better but others worse (for example, there are less birds now than in the past, or at least it seems that way).

Current minimum wage is closer to 2 dollars an hour, still a long way to go but that’s not considering benefits and pretty much all transportation and two meals a day are taken care of (in the city where I work).

In fact the article you posted in more ways than that, I guess it’s not updated since a long time ago but since always extra time has been paid at double the rate for the first 9 hours and triple rate for the next ones (maximum of 12 hours per week).

Right wing in mexico is not as extreme as the one in the US, though (even then I don’t like them), but what needs to be clear is that although the current party in position is very left (which is great) it’s not really progressive other than in labor areas. I don’t like sheinbaum specifically and I think morena could do better than her or the current president as it has shown from their legislative branch but politics in Mexico right now are very weird.

As I understand it it also coincides with the distance to the sun and the fact that the southern hemisphere is mostly water keeps temperatures there more steady.
I was wrong on the first part, in fact the sun is closer un the southern hemisphere’s summer than in the northern, but the difference in distance is minuscule. So the only reason is the water distribution.
This is average of the whole world, including polar areas and places where right now it’s winter.
