“Have these gentlemen ever seen a revolution? A revolution is certainly the most authoritarian thing there is; it is the act whereby one part of the population imposes its will upon the other part by means of rifles, bayonets and cannon”
Lucky you, in Rome, 25/mo for barely 200 down / 20 up, mixed fiber/copper. I’m still on DSL 100down10up (yeah, in 2023) but I think I’ll switch when they will provide real fiber, something like yours in terms of performance. (Fastweb btw)
IK I was just poking fun at windows, but the average user (a grandma or other non-tech literate person) won’t know it even exists, plus it doesn’t resolve the issue that, aside from a few maybe legal scripts, you can’t uninstall edge. Still a step in the good direction though.
The package manag- oh it’s windows right
So if I try to run the game on hardware that doesn’t meet the requirements and I get it to run (like a pentium IV) I should be banned?
Does it give u an error like “media not supported by client” or something like that? If so - I’m not an expert- but you may need to enable video transcoding of smthing like that
I don’t really have experience with plex (I only used jellyfin) but AFAIK plex has ads, collects data and has paid plans, although their UI should be nicer, something you could circumvent with custom CSS (freely aviable on jellyfin’s site) there are many plex vs jellyfin comparisons online, but as far as I understood jellyfin is just FOSS self hosted plex with a slightly worse UI and maybe less device compatibility (still a lot of it, considering it’s a FOSS small project not backed by companies)
I don’t know if it’s a r/whoooosh, but “Linux ISOs” is a way to refer to pirated content. You download movies, music, shows etc and then put it on your jellyfin server. It comes from the fact that downloading Linux ISOs is pretty much the only legal use case for a bit torrent client
Nope, you can host it on windows if you want (although I recommend the stability of a Linux system) as for supported clients, windows, Linux, MacOS, Android, iOS, Android auto, Android TV, Apple TV, and much more.
Really want to get into real debrid, can you ELI5 it to me?
If anybody is interested: an old workstation/server costs about 100€, a 2TB external Hdd 50€, that’s about all you need to self-host your Netflix.
to proceed flash a Linux distro of your choice (I recommend Debian 12 stable) follow a tutorial on YT on how to install it, it’s very simple.
Download and configure jellyfin. Open the 8096/8099 port on your router.
If you live in a country where downloading “Linux ISOs” is frowned upon, be sure to use a VPN while downloading the latest Linux Mint release for your jellyfin server.
Load those fancy new kali Linux live CDs on your jellyfin servers, download clients for all your devices and enjoy!
Guides for everything I said can be found online, expecially on YouTube.
Just to add: jellyfin is free and open source: you know it does not spy on you and it does not build a profile on you to then sell your data to ad companies, a huge plus if you ask me.

My grandfather’s glorious Olivetti proudest pc-1,paid 11million lirae (about 6.000€ euros) with an 8mhz CPU and well over 512kB of ram!
(from Wikipedia, the house burned down in 2001)
Peperoni cruschi, it’s a recipe from Basilicata so the word “cruschi” comes from there, and loosely means “croccanti” or crunchy. If we want to italianize it it would be peperoni croccanti
Oh it’s impossible to find them even in central Italy, unfortunately that’s the sad part about local Italian products, they’re really good but if you don’t know a grandpa that can make them (and I fortunately do) or aren’t in the region(i was at the time) they’re basically unfindable if you don’t know the recipe, but you can always learn, it shouldn’t be hard. Good luck!
Yea i understand, for reference my father works and worked his whole life in IT, my grandma worked as union rep and I’m interested in both worlds, I get that the struggle is real, the sector is young. Even just 30 years ago there was no IT market, for reference the transport industry is as old as time and yet this historic contract was won in 2023 AD, we just gotta push and organize.
Pushing tens of pounds around in the heat everyday is hard, expecially inside a van without AC.
Let’s just hope tech workers will be smart enough to unionize and organize like the UPS Chads did.
I enjoy breathing air, I would not pay for it, why should I pay for YouTube w/o ads when a free alternative (ublock origin + sponsorblock + misc. extentions) exist and it’s better? (not regionlocked for example, another big one is that it’s… Free)
I’m on vacation in a place that is regularly 20c on summer, it’s 35c right now. Real sad since I wanted to escape the 40c city
There’s at least two of us!
