@shish_mish Sometimes if it sounds too good to be true, it is.
@uranibaba There are apps like that but it’s awful, breaks end-to-end encryption, lot’s of missing features, etc. The key to interoperability is standards compliance. I make XMPP a hard requirement and pulled a lot of people in this way.

@gravitas_deficiency This is true. That’s why I run a private XMPP server in my home for me and my family.
@GigglyBobble @ugjka @ChapolinColoradoNZ @KLISHDFSDF Yes, WhatsApp is end-to-end encrypted by default while Telegram is not. Telegram sells itself as secure but among popular messengers, privacy wise, it’s the worst one.
@HeartyBeast @trashhalo @hypelightfly Maybe it’s a good idea to include the original URL too. In case the link shortener goes offline or something else happens to it.

@NeoNachtwaechter httpie is super nice
@ghostermonster @reclipse Matrix implementation of MLS will be called dMLS and not be compatible with the internet standard. There seem to be technical reasons, but not too surprising for a company that couldn’t build their product compliant with the existing XMPP messaging standard for no reason I guess.

@chickenwing @Paradox The XMPP reinvention? Why not use the original?
@HeyThisIsntTheYMCA @L4s Correct. No one is ‘flocking’ to Threads. They just added a new feature to Instagram.
