I am me and always have been
For my generation, it was mostly TV. Same for Xers and Boomers, though they were also allowed to roam with no adult supervision. The habit of neglecting children is ingrained in our society, and computers are just the newest method.
Thanks for the heads up! I haven’t opened this one for a few weeks. Will have to check out the update.
JFC… 😔
No, but seriously, as a parent who regularly gets texts and emails of crap that my kids want, teaching them to prune their links is next on my to-do list! It’s annoying AF, but right now we’re focused on the power of the “enter” button to add spaces between items on a list.
Vancouver, BC in Canada did the same, though they actually fully banned foreign property purchasing. I’m guessing it’s low hanging fruit that won’t get much pushback within the country. Hopefully these are just first steps, in both cases.
Really wish fucking anything were being done in the US.
To put a finer point on it: The average car buyer who has $0 down is not buying a $43,000+ car.
Buying old will always be cheaper, I’m not trying to argue against that. But the numbers you listed are going to depend on where you live. Registration will happen every year, whether you buy new or old, but buying an older car will save some money on those registrations. I’m really just trying to say that the same point can be made, but with reasonable and accurate numbers that the average consumer can relate to.
Why is no one calling bullshit on these numbers? 10%/mo of 100k/yr = $833 a month. That is a HUGE monthly loan repayment. That’s a $43,000 vehicle with nothing as a down payment. You can get a new car for less than half that. (And then on the next round you can trade in or sell your old one for more down payment.) Even if you figure that’s 100k pre-tax, you should still be left with roughly 70-80% of that, which is more than plenty for a basic new car.
I’m not arguing that inflation has been ridiculous, because it absolutely has. The bottom 90% of folks are getting fucked. But let’s use real numbers.
Against the Storm. I can pick it up whenever I have a free minute, and pause it or save and quit when I need to be doing something else. It’s just enough of a challenge to be immersive when I’m playing, but the stakes are low enough that it’s not stressful. And the music/ambient noise is lovely.
My feed is full of weather, and I ♥️ it.
Looks delicious! I went through a caprese kick a couple summers ago. They’re so freaking good with fresh summer veggies. Little bit of sea salt on each tomato slice makes a big difference, too.
Politicians who pushed for it? Yes. Regular governmental employees, who are working in a highly politicized environment and hoping to even still have a job tomorrow? No. (Unless they voted or pushed for Brexit themselves, of course.)
Looks like the “active last month” peaked at 702k and we’re now around 615k. https://the-federation.info/platform/73
To add further context to the corrections this comment has already received, there are 1.6 billion (with a B) Instagram users. Far more than 100 million.
Sounds like I need to look at this Fish place instead.
I’ll be switching to Garmin next time for other reasons, but my current Fitbit (Versa 3) actually has great battery life. 6-7 days between charges, unless I’m using the screen a lot.
I’ve been a happy Fitbit user for years, but am finding their Premium push increasingly annoying. I shouldn’t have to pay a subscription fee to see data that my tracker is already getting. I almost switched to Garmin last time but didn’t, and I regret that now. My current Fitbit is still in great shape so it’ll be a while until I can justify a new tracker.
Happens in the US, too. I know someone who got in trouble for building a shed that connected to their house by roof (covered walkway). Then the county came and inspected in person, and it turns out the shed was too large even on its own so they were dealing with that last I heard.
Our World in Data has a decent article about it: https://ourworldindata.org/food-choice-vs-eating-local
And a tiny bit of white wine, and some salt. Freaking delicious.
