I don’t really care. It was I think the first instance I learned about (must’ve been the most popular at the time) and I applied for an account there, but by the time it got approved I had already started posting on lemmy.world, so here I am.

Jazz JackRabbit on MS-DOS on my dad’s computer.
I have the equivalent of RAID 5 too, but mind the usual “RAID is not a backup” - if you deliberately delete something (or something goes wrong with an app managing your media), hardware redundancy won’t save you in any way; it only helps if the data is intact and you want to remedy a hardware failure.
I only back up my music collection because I put extra effort into organising and tagging everything, plus some of it is rips of CDs not available anywhere. As for movies and TV shows, I only back up configurations and catalogues of the relevant apps, the contents themselves are 1) too big to be feasible to back up and 2) 99% of the time available to re-download.
Can I counteract that with “then maybe you should release finished products at the initial public release date”?
I guess that ideally you don’t feel anything at all, but I’ve heard from a few people that there was some itchiness and irritation, which mirrors my experience, so…
Have you had your wisdom teeth grow? I figure this would be the same. With mine it wasn’t a particularly pleasant experience, but it wasn’t too bad either - and if it’s the same with that new treatment, I’d be willing to take the pain over the alternative of staying toothless when I grow old.
Given how 3D printing is developing, I would.
Yup. Let’s see how he’ll backtrack when they force him to comply.
Wow, that’s pretty terrible. I can’t remember the last time I’ve seen data caps on home Internet (edit: there were some a while ago, but those were basically cellular-at-home for places that are hard to reach with copper or optic fibre); must’ve been early 2000s. Right now I get 600 Mbps d/400 Mbps u at home and 10 Mbps d/u cellular (no data cap) for a total of under 30 EUR/mo.
I agree that Torx might be better for things that require a lot of torque, but mobile phones?
… aaaand another brand I’ll be avoiding when looking for a new phone. In my eyes a phone that can’t be rooted is kind of like a computer without access to an administrator account - you can do stuff with it, but at one point your hands are tied.
Wow. 5k is more than I’ve spent in total for all phones I’ve owned and the software too. I’m in my early 30s.
Maybe. I’ve been on both sides. I definitely think that at-launch prices for games like this are often outrageous, but usually some time after launch there are deals with very reasonable prices; lately I try to aim for the latter - both for the better price and for the better software quality (after all the patches and so on).
Thanks for the insight. Is what you’re saying that there you can only buy a phone through a carrier?
A bit weird to see LG in the charts (given that they’re out of the smartphone industry now) and yet none of the other big manufacturers (Xiaomi, Huawei, Google).
Add some more specific requirements, e.g. budget, OEM vs DIY, storage space you expect to need, number of drive slots you want. Generally try to overshoot a bit when buying because a NAS is a relatively long lived device.
Maybe related to these changes, maybe due to something else, I don’t know, but a Ubisoft game I have installed through Steam (Far Cry New Dawn) stopped launching for me. I tried verifying game files through Steam (more than once), but that by itself didn’t help. What worked however was uninstalling Ubisoft Connect, then verifying game files again through Steam (which sadly installs Ubisoft Connect again), then launching the game (which initiated a Ubisoft Connect update for me). Hope that helps someone.
The hard part is finding anyone who wants to listen to you rambling about your stuff.
