You’re treating your government like it’s your enemy. If that’s the case then you should obviously focus on fixing whatever caused this. It’s worth it because when that’s done we can have governments providing public services again.
Those failed Linux moves happened because governments are cheap and defer entire digitisation to municipalities and other local forms of government. It’s like there’s no planning of anything anymore („free market will solve everything”). It sounds ridiculous but even effing North Korea knows better.
If they were serious about it they’d hire couple of dozen open source software contributors first, do a small scale trial run where you iron out the kinks and submit patches where necessary and only then roll this out to regular govt clerks.
You can’t expect projects running on a shoestring budget to provide you with commercial grade solutions. Of course if you hire a big corpo that will promise you everything above but those somehow always turn out to be scams.
Mine was 2018 and I’m still with that girl I met on Tinder. Most of my age group met their partners there but there’s also no denying those apps are losing relevance. They worked for a time (although they always sucked for men), that is until inevitable enshittification.
With how complex the process from DNA to protein is, this looks pretty awesome?
I hope someone archived it before they enabled paywall. Oh wait (please see post text body ;))
But they do sit on that database of sexual preferences already because they run the registry office. I want the state to know my blood type and other details because state is supposed to provide basic public services and infrastructure. But yeah, if your government is no longer accountable then that’s the priority always.
„It is scientifically proven that you’re so salty because I’m getting some” is a line that you’re now allowed to use.
I agree in regards to priority obviously but imagine that you have a dating app that doesn’t exist to extract every last cent out of you and is ran by people who are graded by amount of successful matches. There’s a huge crisis of solitude among younger people and technology is not the only reason for it. It can help a bit though.
Taxes keep schools and hospitals running and unless special tax is applied to fortune tellers I don’t see anything wrong with taxing them same way as everyone else.
My now long standing belief is that dating apps should be nationalised. It makes so much sense from the point of running a state that it’s hard to argue against. Give people free Tinder and get free votes lol.
My guess they recognise they lack visibility: People think there are no alternatives to big tech but other than hardware we’re not that dependent, especially in software. It’s a matter of switching to local or open alternatives which are ready now.
I haven’t encountered a case where they’d be outright lying and the guy who runs it looks reasonably sane which is a high bar these days. I use multiple sources from different sides because the most common type of manipulation is omission of certain details and I think everyone is a bit guilty of that.
Rule of law crisis is a complex topic and I think it was handled well here, especially for someone without prior knowledge. They could go a bit more in-depth but then they’d be risking covering decades of spats between Tusk and Kaczyński.
Avoiding non-newsworthy content might be a part of intention behind the rule but whether that makes sense depends on how you want to run a community. I try to make an effort to not assume ill intent (not always successful) and this just looks like a mod is using external list not to be critiqued for arbitrary choices and that only works if no exceptions are made.
I lack any context but if the rule is against questionable sources and a mod is able to document that the source is questionable then surely there other news outlets are reporting on that too that you can use. Unless there’s a big conspiracy against that.
The Wire is a show like they don’t really make anymore, requiring you to pay attention and take it in. It can’t be binged and must be taken in slowly which is antithesis of most of modern TV, even the prestige shows don’t slow down for world building like that these days.
The way I understood it that he’s outsider in his own circles, like you have people who aren’t necessarily team players but their other contributions merit keeping them close. The article doesn’t dwell on it and I lack local context so thank you for providing it.
I didn’t mean Nebula would be the answer but many Nebulas that would do better or worse based on their own decisions rather than everyone being beholden to a single corporate overlord.
I tried it some time ago. No algorithm behind it so if someone wasn’t already watching random Wikipedia pages this won’t make them do it.
When I got sick it took me a month to realise I might have had what my grandma had. That got scary for a moment because her tests were always normal and my whole family, myself included, thought she was a druggie. I got dead set on getting to the bottom of it and therefore got diagnosed in likely a record time despite being seronegative.
If you want to put a cherry on top then you can add referral to a psychologist in the last panel XD
