But my point is that it doesn’t make sense to use Afghan women as an argument against fighting back in the first place. It doesn’t matter if it’s their fault or not, American women need to fight back.
It’s not about assigning blame, but about what would have to have been done.
And more importantly, American women CAN still fight back, so why are you talking about women in another country who can’t really fight back anymore like it’s a good counterargument?
Arguably, current-day Afghanistan is what happens when you (i.e. Afghan women as a whole) don’t fight back early and decisively enough.
Economists also said that Trump would tank the economy. Americans sleep.
Not even just “sleeping”, Wallstreet is celebrating his win!
People feel that their quality of life is going downhill and the propagandists presented an easy scapegoat to distract from the rich.
She’s amazing, Jeph outdid himself with her expressions!
Does this count as actual fascism yet?
Fiction books require a hire standard for translation, though. It doesn’t just have to be 100% factually accurate to the source book (which I’m not convinced AI is capable of right now), but it has to be aesthetically pleasing on top of that.
Surely the quality of translation will not suffer. No way that’s going to happen, nuh uh!
If the quality was actually really good, I’d be less concerned about it, though. If translating well actually just becomes easier, you’d be a fool to not make use of that - would you pay 1000€ for a book that was copied by hand with pen and paper?
Lots of these predictions were actually quite horrible. e.g. flying cars would be so much worse than regular cars in so many ways.
I liked Grimgar a lot.
“Many of you will die, but that is a sacrifice I’m willing to make!”
Neat, that’s a great way to show how dense some of these cities are. And damn, Egypt!
If I wrote comments like I chat in a grocery store queue I’d never write a single comment.
Agreed, though I think that he doesn’t quite fit the definition of “celebrity” considering he did two terms as a state governor.
No numbers for “A celebrity’s position on a politicial issue has positively affected my opinion of him/her”?
And IMO, considering all the other groups that are trying to sway voters and how close elections tend to be (and how polarized politics are in the US), these numbers aren’t that bad. And the way advertising/propaganda works, they don’t necessarily have to sway people in a way that the people directly notice - it’s often enough to keep repeating a point to keep it in people’s consciousness.
God isn’t real, but if he was real he’d be a dick.
Good for them! (unironic)
