And it worked. I just licked one. It tasted horrible.
Ah yeah, the Amen Break from Amen, Brother by the Winstons. There was actually a fundraiser for the guy a few years back, I threw in a few pounds, as his work has been the basis of a huge part of my musical taste!
That’s awesome, I had no idea he was behind that tune. I hope he got paaaaiiiid!
Ha, I bet :-)
I thought the strip across the bottom was called a chyron? Not heard it referred to as a bug before (not saying you’re wrong though).
Yeah ,definitely see that style too. Guys like Miles (and miles) O’Keeffe.
Luke looks a bit like Mark Zuckerberg here IMO. It’s a bit creepy.
What you’re describing is (or at least was) the traditional way of doing Hallowe’en here in Scotland (and also in parts of England Wales and Ireland I think).
Trick or Treaters, more traditionally known as Guisers (because they’re in disguise) are/were expected to earn their treat with some jokes, or a song, or something.
It’s largely dying out now, such is the influence of Halloween (without the apostrophe) and especially the American version of it. Part of me is a bit sad about that, but on the other hand, it’s a hell of a lot simpler if people just hand over sweets instead of requiring a performance! Kids do still usually have at least one joke to tell though, which is fun :-)
See also this article on the pagan festival of Samhain, from which…
Mumming and guising were part of the festival from at least the early modern era, whereby people went door-to-door in costume, reciting verses in exchange for food.
I always sort by New, but I also only use Subscribed, rather than All. So it’s an up to date list of topics in my curated interest areas.
Alright, alright, alright, alright…
Ah, fair point!
Thanks, yeah, I actually started doing that, but having those sites open as tabs in browser windows just wasn’t working for me. That, and the favicons just being the FF logo instead of the logo for each “app”. I might have another go, but I’ve been busy with work and have just taken the path of least resistance so far.
That’s interesting about FF and PWAs, I didn’t know that it used to do something like that. I guess Google aren’t the only ones who kill useful stuff! 😁
Thanks. My main issue is the lack of progressive web app ability in Firefox. I have my Outlook, Gmail, Keep, Calendar, Netflix and other sites set up that way, but can’t do it with FF.
I did hear that they might be working on adding it though, which would be great.
That’s a good point, actually. I hadn’t thought it through enough.
To be fair to those people (which I’m really not inclined to be), I’m pro-choice but strongly against the death penalty. So I guess it swings both ways.
This is a great answer.
Exactly - which is what I do :-)
The weakening of ad blockers still affects me for those specific sites though.
I’m thinking a smoothie.
