Seems like they were actually on the side of the dictators in Tunisia, Egypt and Yemen until they realized that they’d collapse. I think Libya is very well remembered, they just completely ruined what was formerly a stable, wealthy country (although a dictatorship of course).

Because you genuinely seem to care I think 10 myths about Israel by Ilan Pappe would be a relevant resource. I think it’s a nice compromise between working scientifically (I.e. citing sources where necessary) and being accessible. It’s not a scientific book but it’s written by a credible Israeli researcher.

I will be honest, it’s very biased in a sense that it’s anti-Zionist. But I think once you read about the history of Zionism it’s difficult to remain unbiased about it.

That being said, a lot of damage has been done by the British before the establishment of Israel and a lot of damage has been done since it’s establishment, but the book also offers a perspective for moving on.

This perspective would be the establishment of an actual democratic state with equal rights for everyone and an acknowledgment of the rights of Palestinians to their land, their culture, and their history. Such a democratic state is possible, and it would not favor any ethnicity or religion. And here’s the catch: it would go against the Zionist ideology because it wouldn’t be a „Jewish“ state anymore (more like ethno-supremacist).

Zionism is a settler colonial ideology that aims at creating a Jewish ethno-state in Palestine. It cannot exist without violence. You can’t colonize someone else’s land without violence, and you can’t commit this violence without rationalizing it through dehumanizing the colonized. The genocide against the indigenous Palestinians is the logical consequence of their dehumanization that spans now over more than a century.

You’re being downvoted on every post you do about this topic, you’ve been here for a year and you know that pretty much nobody agrees with you. I’m really wondering what’s your agenda.

Imagine this coming from Russia (which I’m sure they’d also do). I’ve always been very critical and oftentimes shocked by the atrocities that the west and western backed allies committed. But the Gaza genocide and everything around it, the gaslighting, the propaganda, the level of violence and the manufactured consent, we’re entering fascism.

It’s not like Nazi Germany yet where randos like shaserlark will disappear for criticizing the government, but we already established that we’re willing to deny human rights to our enemies. We will kill them, all of them and all of their families without thinking twice.

When it comes to our own, we will make them disappear if they’re important enough, see Assange or Snowden. Assange is out but he’s done. Snowden probably will die in exile. As for the normal people, they get denied their right to protest. Or they get beaten up and arrested on bogus charges. They get harassed at home. Climate / pro Palestine activists will end up in jail.

We’re not there yet where I will disappear for saying this, but at the current pace we’re only a couple decades away from it, if even.
