  • One of the best drives I’ve done is from Queenstown (on the lightning bolt lake) up the west coast to Greymouth (on the north west coast where the snowcaps stop, the plain there).

Beautiful scenery - you’d be driving (no speed limit, so you can concentrate on the bends) through rainforest one minute and then emerge onto a vast river delta with a giant wooden bridge, then back into forest, then out onto a plain with towering snowcapped mountains above you, then back into forest, then pop out at a beautiful beach.

Never experienced anything like it, it’s one of my favourite memories of my trip to NZ.

  • My old house in Brisbane was in a place designed like this, and this part of it was great.

Every house was crammed together, zeroed garages etc, but they’d deliberately left plenty of old growth in place when they were planning/clearing and turned them into places for parks.
There were wide footpaths everywhere, and you travelled at most two small blocks till there was a park with benches, nice big trees and some room to spread out. Some had BBQs and play equipment for kids too. We were always walking everywhere.

As well as looking great and being useful, the green areas felt like they kept the temperature down in the estate. This is compared to some other estates that went up about the same time, where no old trees were left and everything was cleared for just houses - they felt several degrees hotter.

  • Titanfall 2 is an amazing game. It’s single player is one of the best - it never gets stale as there’s always a new mechanic, both as a ‘pilot’ (soldier) or in a titan, to master or a twist you didn’t see coming. The story itself is top notch, and it’s length is good.

If I remember right, you can pause at anytime, even in cutscenes. They’re not long though.

Plus, the multiplayer has been fixed just recently so you can vs others in some of the best feeling combat any game has to offer.

I’ve never played the others though, so feel free to go with them.

  • Perhaps I should’ve been more specific - the Insiders twitter had been shut down since near the start of the year.

The first four (at least) episodes of the show featured no mention of the royal Commission, which at the time was releasing damning findings and testimony what seemed like every few days. It was big news - just not on Insiders, where they can actually interview those part of it.

The insiders Twitter was full of people pointing out the lack of coverage, with no acknowledgement except for an abrupt shut down.

Really felt reminiscent of the ‘don’t mention NBN’ in Q+A years ago.
