First week in a higher role nearly over and I must say I’m enjoy it.
Slightly more busy and dealing with new people (who are all super patient).
Best part of it, is I actually have some influence over large decisions. So far my input has been welcomed and respected.
Fingers crossed my old boss stays in his role and I can keep this one 😁

Hey I think I drove past that a couple of weeks ago! It looked like something out of some sci fi horror movie
Not that one, most concrete pumps look the same. I walked by again this morning, it’s all gone, there’s a fresh slab poured and they’ve absolutely annihilated the nature strips with heavy vehicles.
Oh, okay. I’ve never seen one of those before, but the houses looked similar which is why I thought I knew where it was.
That look is AV Jennings 1960s Suburbia. They’re being replaced with rendered polystyrene McMansions.
I gotta say… as someone who often feels like an outsider it’s kind of nice that everyone else is sick when I am too. I feel like I’m a part of something.

I’d forgotten just how much I hate the smell of weed. There was a kid at the last place that would smoke inside and blow it into the heating ducts and then I’d end up reeking of it. The new kid here only smokes outside, but he stands just outside the door so it still makes its way in
I usually don’t care, but this is the weed equivalent of a burning car tyre

I have at least 5-10 of every type of USB cable. Plus any cables for monitors and TVs.
Guitar and microphone cables.
Bunch of spare USB sticks and USB hard drives and about 2 dozen wireless mice.
Favorite is USB C to USB C. Constantly need it for music equipment.
This collection has taken about 7 years, and it’s still growing!

It’s lollies and fondant and bought icing roses. I just put them I’m their spots. But it does look good.
Still the fondant went on smooth and stayed in place without bubbling, thin spots or tearing. And the decorations are on firmly with no leaking of royal icing or sliding down. Technique and stuff
It slid backwards a bit on the car ride. So much for the back seat passengers keeping an eye on it! But it was unscathed just a bit further back on the board. She loved it too.
Oh wow. I’m also making a cake tonight for a birthday tomorrow. I doubt it will be this pretty.

I called in crook. My brain is stuffed. Then I was joined by Mrs and Tinyest cause he got sent from from daycare with lice. They claim no one else in the room has it, which is impossible cause he hasn’t any any other interaction with kids outside of daycare, and we don’t have it.

Honestly? They don’t recommend that these days. They won’t survive long or at all off the head so long as you clean the infected person.

One of the really frustrating things about getting the 'rona is I’ve been itching to settle down into sorting and organising the spare room, which is going to be the study/library space.
However I had a burst of energy and inspiration tonight and did a little rearranging and moving around - I want to put a cat tower where one of the smaller bookcases was and that meant moving the others one up, which meant emptying one, and…
Anyway there’s roughly a cat tower sized space next to the window. Next step is sorting what’s in the bookshelves and cleaning them… even if I do one shelf at a time, it’s something.Days like this I wish I had a house with a wood fire. The crackle sounds and warm glow are a cure for winter cold and sads.

Cleaning out the ash & cinders the next day is the downside of a wood fire. My EBrunswick house was heated with a slow combustion wood heater - dealt with all too many ashes over the years. The good side of that is I always had wood ash on hand for the garden. I actually miss that part of the deal. I don’t miss stacking the wood chunks though and keeping them dry and ready to use.
In my ideal house there would be regular heating plus a wood heater. Wood heater for night when I want to put effort in and regular heating for the rest of the time. I want the mod cons and the cake.
We run the split system on the cold mornings when we’re heading out for the day, then I light the fire when I get home. It warms the house up nicely, and is a great way to get clothes dry in front of. When I have a day off I’ll keep it ticking over all day and it’s lovely. It is a lot of work and mess though, and we are very lucky because we don’t have to pay for good wood.
Yeah, I’m glad to be done with that, I must say. (The ashes. Oh my God, the ashes.)
Wood ash does wonderful things for the garden when added in small quantities. Also snails hate ash and won’t cross it, so can be used to protect baby vegetables if you put a ring of ash around whatever plant or bed you want to protect. After that, the ash can be dug into the soil when the plants come out after harvest. I’ve never used briquettes or coal, as these ashes are a lot more toxic.
It’s alot of work, but the heat is lovely.
The bnbs I stay at must have a fireplace and a spa bath or no deal.
It’s the smell for me. Sometimes I like to go and drive out to regional victoria on the coldest days just to smell the wood fire smell in the air mmm
