At least 70 Palestinians have been killed and more than 200 others are said to have been injured as Israeli forces launched a new offensive in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. The Israeli military ordered around 400,000 residents to leave their homes for what it described as a humanitarian zone on the coast – an already overcrowded area which is being made even smaller. The Israel defence forces accused Hamas of firing rockets at Israeli forces from Khan Younis.
