Wow. Just like every dictator out there with a huge inferiority complex, trying to boost their ego.

Anyone who hasn’t watched Charlie Chaplin’s The Great Dictator really should. In the movie they mock how Mussolini was simping for Hitler and wanted to impress him by trying to one-up him at every occasion.

This is totally what Trump is trying to do with Putin right now. Trump is a Putin simp desperate to get his attention.

Methinks this may be part of the reason we’re not in the military

Other unnamed officials told the paper that a big military parade will require a huge amount of coordination between the six branches of the armed forces, along with several federal agencies and regional officials.

If it happens it’ll be a shit show…

    To quote Henry Zebrowski:

I have a bad idea, and I’m gonna execute it poorly

Horrible as this whole thing is, this could be an amazing time for a protest. You know he’ll be paying attention here.

That’s an interesting strategy question. Would it be more effective to not show up, knowing there will be swarms of magats anyway, or to create a huge protest? At what point does lack of an audience trump a protesting audience, and what will they claim for attendance?

When there is video footage of the parade, someone needs to make a video clip that is compiled from several clips from the US, North Korean and Russian military parades and put “Entry of The Gladiators” as the background music.

The USA is extremely lucky that Trump is 79 years old. Imagine if he were 40. By the time he turned 79, they would be living in a totalitarian dictatorship. The luck is that they will suffer for another 6-7 years. Yes, Trump will have a third term, in three years there will be no free media or independent judiciary. The public administration will be turned into mindless voters. All critics will suffer the fate of the oppositionists in Russia and will become “allergic to windows”. Forget about democracy. Land of the bigots and the home of the bully.

He can (and has) done plenty of permanent damage. I don’t think age is doing us as many favors as you think. He can put us in the exact same position in 4 years a younger dictator would.

The only difference is whether or not the US can recover some actual semblance of the democracy it once was. The world is already turning away from us and I sincerely doubt we’ll be welcomed back should trump no longer be president. They forgave us his first term, but the second term with him openly threatening other countries is a line that cannot be uncrossed. With us being held at arm’s length it will be all but impossible to recover our position in the world as well as mend our democracy.

The reputation that America lost is gone for good. It will take a colossal effort and time, and these people who caused the problems are not going anywhere. They will continue to cause problems and oppose any solution no matter what.

And In the end it’s not really on him alone, there are far too many of us who WANT to be isolated and aggressive because they’ve been brainwashed into thinking were untouchable, despite the fact that “America’s become weak thanks to all the gays and feelings” and “kids these days never worked a real job”. The double think is insanity

My hope is, if we can win and put the maga cult out of its misery, we can change this country significantly so nothing like this happens again. Then, and only then, can we begin to rebuild some trust.

Trump has been called a super ager by some people. That means despite a highly unhealthy lifestyle he has managed to remain active and functional despite all else.

Don’t think he could just drop dead tomorrow. While I am sure millions of people would like it if he died suddenly of a heart attack or stroke, that probably isn’t going to happen. Kissenger lived to be 100 despite not being much of a healthy looking guy for decades, and his slurring speech patterns were widely mocked as early as the 90s. I am not sure if anyone who wrote his Freakazoid appearance in the 90s ever thought he would live as long as he did.

What I am ultimately saying is that he might make it to 90 and still keep going.
