So much love to my aunty who realised I was not ok, called me and spoke to me for over an hour so I’d feel less alone and anxious 💜💚💙🧡💛 good night

Thanks. I’ve had the worst sleep, fragmented and overheated and taking way too long to wind down…

I have a feeling if anything gets to the point of vcat she’s going to be even more agitated/vindictive. I wish she didn’t pull this on a Friday, all the tenants rights and legal aid places are closed til Monday so this is kind of hanging over my head. There’s a lot I need to get done for uni this weekend and it sure is hard to concentrate

If she does it will bite her in the arse. VCAT comes down very heavily on retaliation until they get the message

That’s a relief to know. I really hope it doesn’t get to that stage but if push comes to shove I won’t roll over. Maybe she should’ve just kept on the REA if she wasn’t going to familiarise herself with the law

Aunts are the best people. Hopefully you can have an ok weekend and get some brain space for uni and time for sun. It’s a shitty situation - vent here as much as you need

Sigh, if I wasn’t flirting with the edges of depression before I’ve certainly been plunged into it now, hard to compartmentalise it and just switch modes, enjoy the sun etc.

These are my new glasses. Picking them up next week:

Ordered a pizza, had a nanna nap, upgraded my music software, grabbed a copy of silent Hill 2 remake for pc and some treats for the fluffy one.

    Perfect Saturday!

Reached out to a friend and so glad I did (and that she was available). We’ve roamed around, chatted at length and I got to stop and smell the roses 🌹 I’ve decided I won’t check my email tonight. I need to recharge

I have built a castle, I’m practicing clipping and layering to make it look really detailed. I just got distracted landscaping and then had the idea to make a little tower on the island. The fiddly part was the bridge, which is multiple square buildings which I adjusted and layed together. I could fiddle with that for ages trying to get it all perfectly even

It sounds like some pretty details tools to play around with.

Maybe add a fountain too if it exists?

It only releases a few weeks ago, and honestly the simplicity in the UI understates the complexity you can achieve with creative thinking. I watched a YouTube video on beginner tricks and there’s things the game doesn’t tell you; like you can add a window but you can also stack them and make 2 or 3 pane windows (see my pic, the top floor). No fountain yet, there’s already been heaps of suggestions haha, only made by like 2 people.

Oh ha. Never would have figured they are 2 windows.

I like the detail in it. Especially all the lilies in the water.

My flowers, after my MIL chopped them and stuck them in a vase in her lounge. Didn’t even ask! I like my flowers outside (my window) where they’re alive and I can look at them.

The bulbs came from my mothers garden, she had hundreds of flowering plants. Orchids, gladdies, roses, azaleas, you name it. I couldn’t take much with me and I have little left. They were planted in a corner of the garden my MIL “gave” me. It is crowded with plants and flowers, just how I like it, whilst her part of the garden is barren and dull.

Being on the drill constantly for that long yesterday made me have a nightmare about… my cordless drill. I’m not usually emotional about… drills… but it stopped working and I was scared/sad :(

Went out this morning and it still works so that was a stupid dream.

Popping more posts in Aussie Frugal to keep it kicking.

I think some traditional frugal advice doesn’t really apply anymore (some stuff is no longer cost effective or as feasible) but am trying to think of the stuff that would still be useful to people adjusting to a newly lower budget.

A lot of it is long term habitual. His Lordship is struggling with his personal budget because he comes from a decently well off family and has always had good disposable income…meanwhile i earn half of what he does now but i grew up poor so i’m beetling along

Second this - if you’ve ever been really poor then for the most part the current ‘crisis’ isn’t one. And I have been. Choices get made on habit, but the absolute basics are still available and affordable. Does one really really need to drink only bottled water at a zillion per cent markup? Energy is another matter - what shits me about this is the unpredictability of current energy costs. Chalk that one up to capitalism.

It’s definitely stressful when there are things you don’t have wiggle room on. Most of my life I did happily beetle along with the bare minimum basics but now my body has decided to be intolerant or allergic to everything cheap 😣

I have been doing my own diy cleaning stuff for a while. I am working today but will pop a post over there as soon as I have time. I need some feedback on it too.

My frugality is equally driven by money and sustainability so sometimes there’s a clash - paying more for something repairable. But like you say there’s a lot of folk who are tightening up by budgets for the first time in a long time so I will try to throw a range of ideas out there too.

Yeah there’s some people are definitely new to it.

Like with one tip some guy went out and bought full amounts of ingredients he didn’t normally use and had no other plan for, then told me it didn’t work out cheaper…

Fucking mower slipped on the embankment and I mowed over 2 small trees that I’d been nurturing. I’m so angry at myself. Feels like I can’t get anything right at the moment.

I confess that I don’t know much about plants and stuff in general but I’ve seen cases where they can sometimes regrow from that state.

Maybe what you were looking after might still have some hope left and they might regrow if there’s something left.
