Summary
Amnesty International is demanding Iran release a female student arrested for protesting the nation’s dress code by stripping to her underwear after reportedly being harassed by Basij forces at Tehran’s Islamic Azad University. Social media videos show her removing her clothes and later being taken by plainclothes officers.
Amnesty also calls for an investigation into alleged abuse during her arrest, echoing past protests over women’s rights in Iran, including those following Mahsa Amini’s death, as authorities continue strict enforcement of mandatory veiling laws amid increasing public dissent.
They smashed her head into the concrete before loading her into the car :(
IRGC is fucked in the head.
Wasn’t even naked… Just underwear. Just wild. They would stone her if she dared to do more?
Look, fuck the Iranian morality police, but there is a video of the arrest and there is nothing in it that suggests that they “smashed her head into the concrete” during the arrest. From what I saw, she’s pretty much just restrained and forced into the back of a police car. Amnesty International is suggesting that violence was a part of the arrest, but they aren’t providing specific details on what that entails. I don’t doubt that this woman’s human rights are being violated right now, given how Iran usually operates, but it’s incredibly suspicious to find an anonymous Internet rando who claims to know the specifics on that alleged violence that other reputable sources apparently don’t.
If you have a trustworthy source on this detail, I’d like to see it, otherwise it kinda sounds like you’re sprinkling fake details into a very real story about the oppression of women, which isn’t helpful.
