Well… I said I’d just do a couple of boxes but 4 hours of hyper focus later I’ve done about six boxes and five bags and cleared out much more space in the living room. Can actually watch TV now!

If I do up the bookshelf on the weekend I could be done with the entire living room area! Need to also do up the bedframe asap, bloody thing is so heavy and cumbersome. I’m definitely getting rid of it (donating/tip) once I move out of here

I’m not going to give her any more catnip for a while 👀

Edit: it’s been around 5 hours and she’s still sort of high lol. She seems to be having fun though!

I don’t know about anybody else but I’ve stopped reading the news and while I wouldn’t describe myself as brimming with joy overall I’m feeling less anxious.

Been doing the same for the most part though I did want to catch up on the story about the teens who methanol spiked drink’s unfortunately and sadly there hasn’t been good news about it.

Had it mostly off since the US election concluded.

Thought I’d leave my West-facing bedroom window cracked open so it wouldn’t be full of stale hot air during the day - bad idea. Will be kept open overnight then closed firmly shut with blinds all the way down tomorrow morning.

Super grateful for the food I bought, wished I’d grabbed a bit more. It’s like a gift from heaven, being fed by someone else’s efforts 🥰

First order of the evening: bossa nova music on, and time to unpack the important kitchen boxes so I have my surfaces available again. Then sit down and enjoy dinner with the week’s episode of Shrinked on the lappy. Feeling good because despite feeling brain dead for most of the day at uni, I managed to get my brain to do something useful at the end.

Kind of jarring flipping between all the moving stuff and work and now uni but I’ll adjust. Leaning a bit heavily on feel good food for now and treating myself to a muffin and coffee etc. Not going to save much money to the end of the year but it’s better that I have some breathing space…

I also wanted to say, thank you to everyone here for all the supportive messages during this move. I know the posts might’ve gotten a bit tedious and self involved but it meant a lot to be able to vent and move on. I definitely feel more emotionally and mentally equipped

      It’s very helpful to vent!

Glad that you’re finally in, you’ve definitely earned some rest and comfort food!!!

Did have a bit of lie in this morning and just had 30 minutes on the lawn at uni staring at the grass and soaking up the sun with my coffee. Back at the desk now for a meeting in halfa. I do actually feel positive that things are gonna get better from here because although things are awkward and uncomfortable right now, it’s been helpful to let go of a lot of physical and emotional baggage…

Coworker just reminded me that I’m off tomorrow (fortnightly day off).

I smashed through my work in anticipation of an easy day tomorrow. Easy day just became a day of leisure.

One of my least favourite things that Americans do is ask why characters are speaking with a British accent, in a game made by a non-American developer based in a country that does not have English as the first language.

They did it with Wukong and now they’re doing it with STALKER. Why do we let the yanks run the world, again?

Not that I like to generalise but a lot of them don’t comprehend that the rest of the world outside of the US exist.

Time zones and release dates tend to confuse them as well.

Even within America there would be arguments. What American accent should characters have? There is so much prejudice there about accent.

I went to drop a box of stuff off to the new place today, and checked the letterbox. Fuck me it must’ve been empty for a while, there were easily about 75 letters/junkmail/magnet things crammed in there. I grabbed them out and had a quick flick through them, and it seems that was a bad idea. There were two dead snails living on the mail, having eaten through half of it, and tiny jumping things. Fucking hope they aren’t bed bugs or lice or something. Never doing that again. Next time it’s all going directly into the bin

I did go and have the most delicious Szechuan chicken curry I think I’ve ever had though. Too spicy for me, so I got a container to bring it back in. Quite reasonable prices though, I can see myself being lazy and getting curry for tea every night. Only a 10 min walk from the new place

Probably springtails, they’re attracted to damp so probably living in the paper. They’re harmless. Bedbugs wouldn’t live there. They like warm claustrophobic environments and want to be near people.

      Smart to be cautious though

Put a layer of snail pellets on the base of the letterbox, then cover with a sheet of baking paper cut to size. Should stop any further snail invasions. And keep your mail nice and dry.

There are days, as a tertiary-qualified 26-year-veteran of the IT industry, where I absolutely despise not just computers but anything that runs on electricity.

Today is one of those days.

If anyone needs me, I’ll be in my shack in the woods far away from any and all technology, screaming.

Oh I’m definitely in that camp, very late adopter to some stuff once it’s had time to mature, and my IoT crap at home is all isolated from the parts of the network that I care about.

I don’t even use wireless headphones because I much prefer a cable, it just works every single time without any charging/pairing/dropout/quality hassle.

        I’m old :\

Nah, I’m 32 and I prefer wired over wireless. Wired headphones, speakers, mouse, charging cords, etc. I hate the idea of airpods because I know I’ll lose one, and I’m suss about Bluetooth tech. I dislike the possibility of Bluetooth headphones failing and everyone hearing whatever I’m playing, and I dislike Bluetooth because everyone can see you. I hate this wireless shit so much.

Coles lemonade isn’t too tasty… it’s a bit sickly and chemical, I’d swear it was artificially flavoured or sweetened if it didn’t say it wasn’t.
