We promised those shareholders that we’d pay you as little as we can…… you wouldn’t want to make us liars, would you?
We promised those shareholders that we’d pay you as little as we can…… you wouldn’t want to make us liars, would you?
They’re paid in stock, so line must go up because MONEY.
That’s just it, as a business owner, some years may be good, and some years may be bad.
So some years your profit should be less.
That doesn’t mean you’re going under. Less profit is still profit. That means everyone (including yourself) has been paid and you have money left over.
But because CEOs are paid mostly in stock, the profits have to rise every year, for no necessary reason besides “I like money”
And eventually that’ll break, and it’ll happen all at once.
100%
Good ones get weeded out by the system on purpose.
Not really, no.
But this thing could be beat with a raspberry pi.
You open the front of your gas boiler?
Exchanging air with the environment?
Where do you think the oven vents its exhaust gases to? The outside? So you have an exhaust vent directly attached to the oven? Which model of stove does this? Most of them vent into the range hood like the stovetop, or just into the room.
Let’s give a better example…. A well vented stovetop…… and you burn something on it really badly….
Does the vent catch ALL the burning smell? Or does the kitchen still smell of burnt food?
Yeah, that smell is the gases and particles that the venting didn’t catch…… there’s still a fair bit, isn’t there…… can you smell the burning?
The amount of gas that’s healthy for you to consume is basically zero, so even if the range hood catches 90% (I think it’s closer to 60, but I don’t have a source on that), there’s still a lot in the air.
K, so put the condescension away when you can do these experiments at home with the help of a responsible adult.
While they are less of a problem when they’re better vented, they’re still a really big problem. You can’t possibly vent them well enough.
Gas ovens poison your home and make you stupid.
Even people sometimes just wake up day and snap for reasons beyond our control.
Now you’re generally right, most of these cases there’s some meaningful details missing and the “no history of attacks” is a lie.
We just can’t broadly apply that because we don’t know which one isn’t a lie.
I can agree with “was”
Now they’re looking to maximize monetisation.
The pattern repeats
Reddit, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, all the major ones. I’d like to think that Reddit is less affected by it than the rest of them, but I’m not certain that is accurate anymore.
…… I call this “exhibit A” for why I’m on lemmy.
Agreed, but the allure of fame and Facebook/YouTube made this behaviour worse.
Or at least gave the mom the tools to make it worse.
It’s when they tried to monetise it and then figured out that “to make the most money, we need people to stay on our site the longest” that things went to shit.
The algorithms soon learned that echo chambers of outrage worked great to maximize viewership.
And we all suffer more for it.
The algorithms designed to keep you there and sell you more are the real poison there, but I can’t say you’re wrong.
Perfect. Zero notes.
Social media should not be for kids.
Amazing, I didn’t know they did this
I’m Canadian…. Slightly different standards.
It’s buck from ice age, now all he needs is an eye patch.
