  • “Do what you can. And what you can do is enough,” she said. …Ocasio-Cortez reminded her followers several times that no deed of resistance is too small.

Honestly, continuing to exist/taking a moment to be nice to yourself in an administration that hates you counts. Keep existing.

A lot of these click-baity titles and over-simplified summaries seem to be adding to this very problem of guilting people for being overwhelmed.

Unfortunately that’s the system but please don’t feel guilty for being human. Kindness and compassion is resistance, and starting with yourself is a valid step.

Fuck the forces who are selling a solution to a problem they created but are trying to say is your fault. /endrant

  • Wait the general sense of “enduring” childhood activities isn’t normal?

I liked SpongeBob, and playing with my “sciencey” toys, and maybe one or two of my console games, and select few movies. The rest was “well this is what people do” until I got old enough to engage in stuff I actively wanted to, like age 10-14 for games and adulthood for other media and life activities.

  • I’m like, borderline aro(?) and yeah having the option to proceed down a meaningful friendship path with my favorite characters/have them move in (shoutout to Krobus in SDV) is awesome when provided.

I can also see the “empty tokenism” as in, players deserve more fleshed out queer relationships instead of rainbow stickers being half-heartedly slapped on existing characters but yeah unfortunately the reviewer is probably a pearl clutching “woke DEI other-buzzword bad” type.

  • I’m going to pretend you’re asking in good faith and would genuinely like to learn.

“Stimming” is “sensory stimulation,” or self-regulating behavior. When used in this context it’s not sexual. It helps (typically neurodivergent, but I’d argue most) people better process the environment around them by having a sensory input they can focus on.

Examples of stimming are hand-flapping (waving one’s hands around), clicking a pen, listening to music, tapping one’s toes, chewing gum, just to name a few. I’m willing to bet you have stims that you may not even realize, and that’s perfectly okay.

TL;DR: Stimming = fidgeting that helps you focus/calm down, it’s not perverted.
